The Dubliners Story comes to Opera House
SEVEN DRUNKEN NIGHTS the story of THE DUBLINERS THE OPERA HOUSE 15TH APRIL 2026 Review by TreTre.
I was feeling apprehensive about this gig. Even though my roots are Irish and my father hailed from Dublin, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I knew one thing, though: the Irish know how to have fun. And there’s nothing better than an Irish sing‑along when alcohol is involved.
My apprehension wasn’t about the performance; it was about The Opera House. Would they let the audience have that Irish craic?
I needn't of worried!! It was bloody brilliant!! It was a great way to start the Saint Patrick day celebrations in Manchester! The performance, brought to life by a live cast of musicians, captured the spirit of Ireland and brought the story of The Dubliners to life with energy and authenticity.
The singing was impeccable — acapella at its finest. Those boys really got the audience up and dancing. The audience participation was brilliant. Everyone knew those famous songs, and they happily sang along, joining in and having the craic with the boys on stage.
For me, it brought back memories of family get‑togethers from my early childhood — fond memories. Especially the song Seven Drunken Nights, which, by the way, was banned in Ireland by their national radio, but good old Top of the Pops in 1967 had them on their Thursday night regular slot. The Pogues & The Dubliners performed together on Top of the Pops again in October 1987, but they performed the song "The Irish Rover"
The Irish didn’t let their culture down. They came dressed to party wearing their green hats, national flags, and springy headbands. The atmosphere was electric, warm and we had so much fun..
A show well worth its weight in leprechaun gold.
