Mick Freed (Mick the Knife)
Mick Freed caught the radio bug after retiring, looking to take on new challenges, he came across a local radio project during lockdown, Radio Northenden, keeping the community informed and entertained.
It was at Radio Northenden that Mick acquired his DJ nickname "Mick the Knife" and it stuck, even after Radio Northenden merged with Wythenshawe FM in 2001.
Born in Surrey and spending most of his younger years in London, Mick has now made Manchester his home and enjoys spending time with his grand children and hobbies.
After digitising his massive vinyl collection, Mick brings you Northenden & Wythenshawe's largest eclectic music collection with songs for all occasions and the odd interview with local musicians and talents. So tune into Mick The Knife every Sunday afternoon 4pm.
